Meet the Board Members

Chair

Natalia Alarcon has an extensive background in the nonprofit sector in Santa Barbara County, where she has worked to support and uplift her community. As the first elected Latina to the Carpinteria City Council and now Mayor,  Natalia has been a strong voice for inclusivity and progress.

As a first-generation college graduate, she earned her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), and went on to obtain her master’s degree in Clinical Psychology.

Natalia believes deeply in the power of community and the transformative impact of education, her values drive her commitment to making a positive difference.

Vice Chair

Marisol Alarcon is a bilingual attorney specializing in immigration law in Carpinteria.  A guiding principle in her life is to do all the good you can as long as you can, which was exemplified by her parents. 

She is currently on the board of the Santa Barbara County Bar Foundation, Santa Barbara Women’s Political Committee and the Teen Legal Clinic. In the past, she has served on the boards of Carpinteria Children’s Project, Family Service Agency and Santa Barbara Women Lawyers. 

Marisol Alarcon is also a member of the Santa Barbara Latino Giving Circle, which was founded in 2019. 

Treasurer

Rebecca Alarcon is a manager at Bartlett, Pringle and Wolf, LLP.  She has over 20 years of experience and has a track record of strong performance in high-volume, fast-paced environments. She assists in the development and implementation of firm policies and procedures and manages and oversees the administrative policies, programs, and practices within the firm.

Rebecca graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and has a Certification in Business Administration.

Rebecca is a mom of three young children who are active in extra curricular activities such as basketball, baseball, soccer and flamenco dancing. She was the cheer director and coach for the Carpinteria Junior Warrior Cheerleaders.  

Secretary

Caroline Alarcon is the owner of Reliant Notary Services in Carpinteria. As a small business owner, she understands and values the importance of community and believes in giving back. She currently serves on the board of Girls Inc. Of Carpinteria, Carpinteria Education Foundation and the Latino Giving Circle. She has experience in the Public Health Department and in the non-profit sector. She has leadership qualities in public engagement, fiscal responsibility, strategic planning and has participated in writing policies and closely collaborating with other governmental agencies. “I believe investing in the youth of our community is incredibly valuable, they are our future business and civic leaders”. 

Board Member

Isa Alarcon is a first-generation college graduate cum laude of Chapman University. She majored in Political Science and Sociology.  In 2022, she was selected as a Latina Future History Maker for HOPE's (Hispanas Organized for Political Equality) annual Latina History Day.  She aspires to obtain a career in government. 

Isa grew up in Carpinteria and graduated from Carpinteria High School in 2021. She was selected as Jr. Carpinterian of the Year during her senior year of high school. During her time in the CUSD district, she participated in various programs, such as AVID, Eureka!, and ASB, and she participated in sports and volunteered extensively. 

She was instrumental in implementing the first Multicultural Literature Class at Carpinteria High School. She is passionate about the education that teens and children receive in the district, and pushes for diverse literacy. She understands the challenges of being first-generation and that the desire to pursue higher education correlates to the education teens and children receive. She believes it is essential to lay the foundation for them in order to  push them towards their greatest potential.
